Saturday 21st May 2011 General Meeting at Kempshott Village Hall, Pack Lane, Basingstoke RG22 5HN "Formal" Meeting starts at 2pm but tea and coffee available from 11 am, hot refreshments available from 1.00pm Lead Member of The Bristol Aquarist Society, and also GSGB Member and Nationwide Delegate (and major 'best in show' prize winner) Bob Jones will share with us his approach to Bristol Shubunkins, Calico Veiltails and Metallic Fantails. The Basingstoke Venue has now become a 'fixture' for our May General Meeting, as it gives Members and visitors, who otherwise find travelling to London more difficult, the opportunity to meet. The facilities provided at this venue are very 'Goldfish friendly', and there are ample and free parking and refreshment facilities. Saturday, 9th July 2011 The Chairman's Goldfish Emporium! From 11.00a.m. Please note this is a Member only event. The format will be that of an open fish-house and barbeque. Ranchu, Jikin, Tosakin, Orandas, Veiltails, Bristol Shubunkins and Experimentals - your chance to see what our Chairman really gets up to! By popular request we have the return of the 'Grumpy Old Man' BBQ. An entry charge of £2 per person for the Society's funds will be made to help cover the cost of refreshments. Saturday 24th September 2011 GSGB Open Show and Closed Auction Sale at St. Paul's Church Hall, Chigwell Road, Woodford Bridge, Essex, Woodford Bridge, IG8 8BT With 67 different classes and growing, this is probably most comprehensive competitive Goldfish Show in the World. Anyone can enter this Open Show, however, the Auction Sale of Goldfish is a 'closed' auction, that is, only Members of the GSGB and other 'Nationwide Societies' may sell and/or buy Goldfish. You may join the GSGB on the day of the Show. |

The GSGB Open Show is held on Saturday 29th October. The GSGB Exhibition of Goldfish Varieties is held on Sunday 30th October. GSGB Members' Goldfish are usually available for sale at this event. The Federation of British Aquarist Societies holds competitive events for many varieties of fish over the two days. The 'Festival' is an Aquarist's extravaganza supported by many specialist aquatic societies including: Goldfish, Koi Carp, Freshwater and Marine Tropical fish, Discus, Catfish, Killifish, Livebearers, Guppies and others, together with reptiles and amphibians. There is a programme of aquatic presentations and talks throughout the weekend. The 'Festival' is open to both residents and day visitors. This is truly a Family Event and leisure facilities are open to those who attend the 'Festival'.
