Programme of Activities 2010/11
(Visitors most welcomed at all events - unless stated otherwise).Saturday 20th March, 2010 Annual General Meeting and General Meeting @ London City YMCA, Errol Street EC1Y 8SE. Commencing at 2.00p.m. We aim to keep our AGM business brief. After the election of Officers, we will commence our General Meeting. The topic for the afternoon will be Filtration Solutions, for Aquariums, indoor and outdoor Ponds and Fish-houses. Saturday,15th May 2010 General Meeting@ Kempshott Village Hall, Pack Lane, Basingstoke RG22 5HN (Bring your lunch, with Tea/Coffee available from 1.00p.m. Meeting starts at 2.00p.m. GSGB Member and prize winner Ray Rich will commence the afternoon by demonstrating his 'trials and tribulations' of trying to re-establish the Globe-Eye. This variety has all but vanished from the UK show benches and Ray is only one of two known breeders in this Country. This is hard to believe given that the variety is the emblem of the GSGB! We shall follow this with a discussion regarding what action can be taken to retrieve other 'Basic Varieties' that are in decline. Saturday, 10th July 2010 General Meeting @ The Chairman's Goldfish Emporium! From 11.00a.m. Please note this is a Member only event. The format will be that of an open fish-house and barbeque. Ranchu, Jikin, Tosakin, Orandas, Veiltails, Bristol Shubunkins and Experimentals - your chance to see what our Chairman really gets up to! By popular request we have the return of the 'Grumpy Old Man' BBQ. An entry charge of £2 per person, for the Society's funds, will be made to help cover the cost of refreshments. This is Largest Goldfish Show in the UK and, with
67 different classes for Goldfish varieties, the most
comprehensive competitive Goldfish Show in the
World! Hundreds of pounds worth of aquatic prizes,
provided by our sponsors: Chiltern
Aquarian. Anyone can enter. Refreshments will be available
throughout the afternoon. NB The Auction Sale of Goldfish is
a 'closed' auction, that is, only Members of the GSGB and
Nationwide Societies may sell and/or buy Goldfish. You
may join on the day. Saturday, 9th and Sunday 10th October 2010 The Festival of Fishkeeping @ Hayling Island, Hampshire (Sponsored by the FBAS). The Goldfish Society of Great Britain holds its Open Show on Saturday 9th, followed by an Exhibition of Goldfish Varieties on the 10th. Saturday, 10th October - GSGB Open Show @ The 'Festival of Fishkeeping' Sunday, 11th October - GSGB Exhibition of Goldfish Varieties The 'Festival' is an Aquarist's extravaganza supported by many specialist aquatic societies.
